About the Artist
My name is Melissa ‘meljen’ Jenkins and I have been an artist ever since I could hold a pencil. I had young dreams of being an animator for Walt Disney Studios. I took required art classes throughout school, AP Studio Art in highschool, and some figure drawing classes in college. I loved submitting my work to contests and state fairs, whether I won or not. It was a thrill to see my art posted somewhere for others to see.
I love to learn new techniques and although I have grown very fond of digital art for the sake of its forgiving nature, I still have stacks of sketch pads and I sit down and doodle from time to time. I love to create anything from web banners and logos to fantasy creatures, dragons, cartoony clip art characters, and even comic strips!
Ever since I had children, I have grown more and more motivated to be myself and put my artwork out there beyond simple galleries. It was my dream to someday own a little shop and offer things that people could use for their creative projects.
After a few years of research and exploring other options for business ideas (did someone say direct sales??) I met and reunited with two amazing people that helped open opportunities for me that I didn’t think existed.
I was pointed in the directon of MyGraficO to sell digital clip art, and even though I didn’t yet have completed sets ready to offer, I decided to apply and dig in head first. I was excited when I was accepted (yes, I screamed like a little girl!) and ever since then I have grown more and more motivated to take things to the next step.
So here I am thanks to the friends and family members who believed in me. It’s a thrill to be able to put my art talent out there and to help inspire creativity in others.
